WOW!!! What a flurry of activity...Science fair, talent show rehearsals...such a busy day!  Congratulations to our science fair winners...Excellent job!

Well, it is here!! Can you believe it is MAP testing time already?  We enjoyed a wonderful kick-off assembly today.  We were able to "visit" Hollywood as tourists and meet several 'stars" along the way.  We reviewed the Stop, Think, Answer, Review strategy for testing and talked about the importance of getting a good night's sleep, eating a healthy breakfast, and drinking plenty of water.  We will be striving to Be on time, Be Prepared, and giving our Best Effort this week to earn the reward on Friday of a STAR bar and a chance to watch the BLT musical.

Students should have brought home the past two math tests tonight to make corrections.  Please sign to let me know that you have seen them and return them tomorrow for 1/2 credit.  Also, since the students just met with Mr. Moore today about their Science Fair project, I have extended the next deadline to Tuesday, April 12.  They have the green packets now.  MAP testing begins Tuesday...please check the parent/student pages for links to MAP information.

Lots of preparation for MAP testing going on in fifth grade.  We are doing review packets in Comm. Arts and Math daily.  We are also taking practice tests and discussing how to make our answers the very best they can be.  We are busy, busy, busy!  Science fair boards have been delivered and should have come home today.
We have a quiz over metric conversions tomorrow.  The students will need to reproduce the graphic that they brought home tonight to study.  Then, we will be completing the study guide over measurement tomorrow and we will test over all measurement concepts on Thursday.
A big thank you to the parents who recently sent clorox

Students should have brought home a completed study guide for the test tomorrow.  Please sign if your student studies tonight so I can award them with BONUS POINTS.  We are also beginning a new unit on Measurement.  We have alot of MAP review going on in Comm. Arts, Math and Science.  We have RTI for 40 per day focusing on Comm. Arts on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Math on Tuesday and Thursday.
Mr. Moore tells me that most students are progressing on their Science Fair projects.  Please let me know if you need assistance with these projects.  The kids have been going over these in science class with Mr. Moore and haven't said much to me about them.  I am more than happy to help.
Our American Revolution project presentations were AMAZING.  I am in the process of uploading them into our project gallery...be sure to check them out.  I also took photos which will be added to our photo gallery.

After writing the newsletter yesterday, I found out that I have Scantron training on Wednesday afterschool.  I am sorry to have to cancel Yellowjacket Math Club for March 23, 2011.

We had a wonderful first day back to school.  The weather was amazing and it was the perfect day to celebrate our "marble jar reward" of an extra recess.  We reviewed some of the math skills we had studied the week before Spring Break, worked on our American Revolution research projects, discussed similes, metaphors and idioms, and reviewed for MAP testing in RTI teams.  Our newsletter came home today--so please look for it or you can read it on the parent section of our we
